Like shorty said, gameplay wise they are bascily the same as the games use the same coding and stuff. Dead island 'original' has more variety in enemies and locations. Dead island riptide has more weapons to chose from (legendaries were not realy implemented however) and more zombie types (but you almost exclusively fight zombies).
