Just picked up 04 4.7 and went to change oil and found oil pan is rusted pretty well. Looked up labor time and it shows 5.7 hours in labor. anyone done this and did you have to swing and tricks to make it go by easier. I've found that 1500 to 2K is the happy spot for the 4.7 and mileage. You "should" be able to get 16-17 around town in the 4.7 if stomping it from every light and on Summer-blend fuel. Fuel filter, plugs, air filter and what you're proposing is the right path. (The back passenger side plug is a real picnic.) Also a warped head could cause combustion gases in the coolant. Observe your overflow reservoir, when bubbles appear in the coolant all the time, it would be a sign of a head gasket leak and maybe warped head. Frank. Tranny shifts smooth, suspensions alright, no noises, but idles REAL rough when coming to/sitting at a stop. power loss. Paid 2800.

My 4.7 wj runs fine, when the engine idles when it's temperature is cold the oil pressure is more or less at 3 but when it reaches operating temperature the gauge shows that when the engine idles the pressure is close to zero, but as soon as i press the pedal and let it idle at 700 rmp instead of 500 the oil pressure goes close to 3.

2000 WJ 4.7 130k. Ok, so I was sure that my head gasket had gone but I'm questioning it now. I have oil in the coolant, and it looks like the #8 plug has had some coolant getting at it. All of the other plugs and the oil look clean. I just did a compression test, all cylinders were between 105 and 135 PSI.
radiator etc. pull the ypipe and then the intake etc. hook motor to a lift. undo the motor mounts and take mounts from block. lower motor down and reach you will be able to get the top bolts from transmission easily. pull motor up, undo the bottom tranny bolts etc, support the transmission while doing this.
