Hey all, 1.4 02 TDCI. Have an issue with glow plug light, going do more testing to see if circuit is live when first turn the ignition (being this cold outside it should!). Last few days its been working until yesterday when again no glow plug light and 2 - 3 times to start and idle little lumpy (not loads mind).
The job itself is straight forward on the 1.8 TDCi with no special tooling required. The only items to check are: Fuse (s) Relay. Wiring harness. Electrical connector (s) Glow plug (s) Glow plug wire. Check the glow plugs with a ohm meter and look for a value of 0.2Ω between vi & earth.

Here's 2 easy steps to check for them.. 1) locate the turbo actuator, get somebody to start the car whilst you watch the actuator. It should without engine running be positioned closest to the windscreen.

I have the same problem with my 2003 Mondeo tdci. 120k. Glow plug light came on during a trip down to Cornwall. Now its hard to start when left overnight. Car runs fine once engine is warmed up tho.
