Lesser, greater, middling…. Makes no difference. The degree is arbitary. The definition’s blurred. If I’m to choose between one evil and another…. I’d rather not choose at all.ā€. ― Andrzej Sapkowski, The Last Wish. tags: badass.

Sapkowski's Witcher series fits this category pretty well, which is why I've waited until now to review any of them. The good news is, Sapkowski's writing starts strong and ends even stronger. From the first page of The Last Wish to the last page of Lady of the Lake, he weaves together well-developed characters and smart storylines.

Publisher's summary. To protect his ward Ciri, Geralt of Rivia sends her to train with the sorceress Yennefer. But all is not well within the Wizard's Guild in the second novel of the Witcher, Andrzej Sapkowski's groundbreaking epic fantasy series that inspired the hit Netflix show and the blockbuster video games. People still remember season 8 of Game of Thrones and because of that they remember seasons 5 to 8 and what it means when a writer is not involved in a production based on the work. Then again - Sapkowski is a lazy dipshit, he never did any work - not for the first paper RPG, not for the second one, not for the games. Still not a bad person. It is what it is. Writing is an act of creation and it’s like being jilted by your child when he grows up. I don’t agree or disagree with either side in this, as it’s not my business. I love his books. I hope to love the Netflix series. I respect the man as an artist.
In-depth talk about The Witcher universe in general, either regarding Andrzej Sapkowski's works, CD Projekt Red's games, the Netflix show, the comics etc. (yes, even the old Polish show is welcome here), but preferably giving emphasis on the source material.
Anyone who has read Andrzej Sapkowski's novel saga can see the many liberties the Netflix series has taken with the source material, more so in its second season than in its first. Season 2 -- a loose adaptation of Sapkowski's Blood of Elves -- upset longtime fans by deviating from the events of the novel, rewriting characters and creating new
Sapkowski decided to not tackle sexism however, and this book is ripe with derogatory scenes regarding women. The dialogue and writing style seems very alien, I would guess in part to the translation, in part perhaps to his style. It is stuttery and very simple, and at times cringy. There is a lack of character development from Geralt, no
A running theme in The Witcher novels. As I read Sword of Destiny, I realized that Sapkowski had woven a theme throughout the two books. In adventure after adventure things aren’t quite how they seem. The monsters aren’t really monsters. The rewards aren’t gratifying.

Andrzej Sapkowski has an $18 million net worth as of November 2023. People from all around the world read the novels he has authored. People enjoy his books because of the storyline and his style of writing fantasy. He has amassed enormous wealth as a result of his tireless efforts and amazing literary talent.

The books by Andrzej Sapkowski are big. The video games by CD Projekt Red are big. Still, as the progenitor of this universe — the first-ever Witcher and Sapkowski is writing a new book: Eastern European author Andrzej Sapkowski is best known for writing the books that the popular video game series The Witcher is based on.One would imagine that the global success of The Witcher I haven't read Sapkowski so I can't weigh on that but regarding to your question whether the length of a novel is an indication of ability. No, absolutely not. Also, while there are a couple of prominent doorstopper fantasy tomes out there and while fantasy is a genre that tends to have longer books than some other genres, a 900-page novel is
